The Physician Liaison is responsible for strategically planning and implementing outreach efforts focusing on physicians, community groups, and other potential referral sources through the hospital's targeted market. This position primarily focuses on developing hospital referral relationships with physicians in the service area, with the goal of maximizing referral and redirection opportunities for both inpatient and outpatient services. The Physician Liaison is responsible for creating a target list of physicians, an annual marketing plan for physicians and referral sources, and providing input in the development and implementation of marketing plans for all service lines. The position is to report on the activity level and outcomes of activities on a regular basis, focusing on increases in volume and/or addressing issues.
The position emphasizes sales objectives based on market assessments and physician needs, the maintenance of good account relationships and the development and implementation of innovative selling ideas and methodologies.
Education: Bachelors Degree in marketing, sales or related field.
Experience: Specific experience in physician relations, network development or a similar role in hospital marketing or business development.
Other Qualifications:Excellent human relations and verbal and written communication skills;
Thorough knowledge of global physician health care issues, including managed care/reimbursements, physician and hospital-based practice operational issues and physician/medical staff credentialing and governance. Ability to understand basic referral trends and sources and interpret/relate such data to market research.
Good computer skills necessary.
